This project may be an answer to some of your needs, but we need your school's help!
For a few years, some schools have had limited Internet (World Wide Web) access through CUHK's School Net project. Unfortunately, this project, excellent though it is, is not primarily aimed at educational resource input or output.
Since 1986, schools have been overwhelmed with a need to teach cross-curricular subjects, e.g civic education, sex-education, drug-education, environmental education, anti-corruption education, but resources have been limited to Government-produced "kits" which do not always fit the crowded curriculum.
New teaching subjects and methods, e.g. Liberal Studies, and soon Integrated Science, among others, have suggested school-based resource development, but there is little time, and unless the resources can be shared, it will be inefficient to take time for everyone to produce their own materials.
The Hong Kong Institute of Education, in association with sister institutions in Hong Kong will offer a Web-site for resources placement, development, and discussion of school-based development projects.
Initially, depending on your responses, we will concentrate on building these study rooms:
However, if we get other inputs, then other "study rooms" will quickly be added to the CRUCIAL CYBER-COLLEGE.
These are our objectives:
The initial project development team is : Eugene Adam, HKIEd.; Jeffrey Day, HKIEd; Ms.Angela Castro, HKU; Denis Donohoe, HKIEd.; Ms. Lo Mun Ling, HKU; Eric Tsang Po Keung, HKIEd., Roger Webb, HKIEd., together with three full time employed graphics/computer editorial specialists.
This project, delayed owing to internal re-organisation, is now fully funded.
Please ask your colleagues whether they will be interested to support this very inexpensive resource development project, funded initially by The Hong Kong Institute of Education . We hope very soon to find other sources of funding through sponsorships.
